Hagi was the center stage of the Meiji Restoration. The town shows shadows of its origins as a Edo-era castle town that was populated by restoration zealots. The old-world feel of Hagi transports visitors to ancient Japan. Hagihonjin is located in east Hagi, where numerous historical landmarks are located within walking distance - Shokasonjuku, an academy that educated patriots of the Meiji Restoration; Hirobumi Ito's villa; and Shinsaku Takasugi's former residence, are some of the destinations in the area. We encourage visitors to immerse themselves in the history and culture of Hagi. The Japanese rooms were inspired by the tranquility of Hagi. The special guest room with an outdoor bath unit has a panoramic view that overlooks the entire city of Hagi. Enjoy a restful stay at Hagihonjin. Hagihonjin's onsen pulls water from a hot spring located 2,000 meters below ground. There are 14 different types of baths for guests to try, including the "Autumn Leaves Bath" and the "Tsubaki Bath". The water, which sprang 20,000 years ago, contains high amounts of sodium, chlorine, and calcium, which provide health and beauty benefits, such as alleviation of nerve and joint pain. Guests have a 360 degree view of the Hagi townscape and Sea of Japan from the Okuhagi Observatory, which also doubles as a foot bath. The magnificent views combined with a foot bath will surely make for a memorable experience. The meals at Hagihonjin utilize various ingredients sourced from Hagi and neighboring regions. Starting with the puffer fish, which is a Yamaguchi prefecture specialty, the meals harness local produce like Kenrangyu-branded beef, a Hagi specialty, and seafood from the Sea of Japan. The meals showcase the bountiful natural resources of this area. Hagi is a beautiful union of a historic town and the Sea of Japan. Explore Hagi and the surrounding areas from Hagihonjin.
