Overview

​Hatago is a ryokan in Arima Onsen. It is a ryokan which has been elected for "Top 100 hotels and ryokans of Japan chosen by professionals", and also it is known for the "Creative Cuisine Ryokan" managed by a professional cook, Tadamichi Ota.

Creative Japanese Cuisine is cooked with crops from Tamba, seafood from Tango, Kobe beef and seasonal ingredients. Enjoy the rich Japanese food cooked by Ota at this ryokan.

The hot springs at Arima Onsen are known to be high in iron content, and gives the water a reddish brown color. It is well known as the red spas or golden springs. You can experience this golden spring at Hatago. There are unique types of baths available, like ones that have tatami flooring.

The ryokan only having 8 rooms in total, it is a cosy quiet place. Please make yourself at home while enjoying the delicious food and relaxing hot springs.

​You can eat both your breakfast and dinner on the 1st floor. We have spaces available for guests from 2 to big groups up to 28 people. The Creative Japanese Cuisine served here which is supervised by Ota, that beautifully combines the best ingredients from the mountains, the ocean and the river, is well appreciated by the guests. Ota has been awarded for his special senses in cooking.
We will prepare the food with all our hearts for every guest, guests who would like to enjoy the food at Hatago when visiting Arima.

Bath

​Arima Onsen, one of the oldest and most important onsen, is hidden behind Mount Rokko. The hot springs are known to be very unique, as it is a mixture of 7 natural components recognized for onsen curative effects. It is said that the hot springs here can cure many symptoms like skin rashes and body pains for example.

Tatami flooring bath tub
The bath tubs at our onsen have a tatami flooring. A lot of guests get surprised at this, but there is no need to be nervous about it, as the tatami flooring prevents your feet from getting cold and slipping and you will soon get used to it.

The kettle bath (second floor)
There are two kettle baths if you go through the door behind the indoors bath tub. The water in this is the famous golden springs. Feel free to rest all you want to inside this tub

​Please enjoy your stay at Arima Onsen with the plans made by Hatago. Choose the plan that best fits your ideal vacation.
Unkai-nabe, or local special dish, is a type of sukiyaki hot pot, in which candy floss is used instead of sugar. Japanese courses are served with 12 small appetizers, a sliced raw fish assortment and rice pot cooked with ingredients of your pick. As we would like our guests to enjoy our food while it is hot and fresh, we serve the food at the eating space on the 1st floor. Please feel free to come in your yukata.

The food served not only uses fresh ingredients, but also it is served in a way which entertains the guests. Ota also believes that you can only be one a professional chef, if you make your way to the guests and explain the food and entertain the guests yourself.
We would like you to experience the delicate taste of Japanese Cuisine.

◆Unkai-nabe (sukiyaki)
The local special dish of Hatago is this Unkai-nabe. This hot pot uses cotton candy instead of sugar that is usually used. Also, instead of using  beaten eggs, please use the sauce made out of yolk and yam
