めんめん亭 わたや Menmentei Wataya

casual Ryokan/Inn
Menmentei Wataya / Niigata Tsubame・Sanjo・Iwamuro・Yahiko 4

Overview

Menmentei Wataya is a long-established inn that retains its edo-period appearance, situated in Iwamuroonsen, one of the best onsen towns in Niigata.
It reopened as the inn of quality relaxation in 2013 after renovation, retaining its history and traditions.

The inn has 21 rooms in total and each room has a quiet environment where you can enjoy quality time with relaxation, feeling Iwamuro's four different seasons.
Four rooms are equipped with a free-flowing hot spring bath, which can't be found anywhere else in the prefecture, where you can spend your own private time.

"Wataya-no-yu" is a well known hot spring coming from two different sources with no added water, where a subtle sulphuric scent lingers.
For those who stay at our inn, you can use "Dairo-no-yu", our affiliated facility where you can experience three different types of baths with free-flowing hot spring waters.

After soaking deeply in the hot spring waters, you will be served with fresh seafood caught in the Japan Sea, homegrown vegetables and Koshihikari rice.
Trying Daiginjo-grilled black throat seaperch and domestic beef wrapped in a leaf grilled with home-made miso is a must.
You can enjoy the aesthetics of seasonal vegetables and seafood along with regional, seasonal flavors.

Bath

Our famous hot spring 'Wataya-no-yu', comes from two natural hot spring sources to which no other water is added.

Wataya hot spring, which has a long history as a hot spring inn, is a highly regarded hot spring with three different springs, the famed water of Iwamuro hot spring and our sister facility, Tatakara hotspring Dairo-no-yu, and is also known as 'the silky-skin bath' due to it's skin-beautifying properties.

In the panoramic open air bath, you can experience an exceptional bath while looking over Mount Matsuoka, known as the Mount Fuji of Iwamuro, and Mount Tatakara. On top of this, there are also rooms with inside bath where you can enjoy as much free flowing hot spring water as you want.

The hot spring waters contain sulphuric sodium and calcium carbonate. (Hypotonic alkaline hot spring)
Temperature of the hot spring waters is 35.9℃ *temperature is sometimes raised during use
