Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Situated in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, the hot spring resort is known for their place markers for the Japanese chess, Shogi. Its central location in Yamagata makes it a convenient base for touring the Prefecture.

You may want to visit Risshakuji Temple in a mountain that the famous poet, Matsuo Basho described or Jakushoji Temple known for the blessing of match-making.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

In 1911, people were digging a rice patch to make a well for irrigation, when hot water sprang up.

This is a low-alkaline sulfate spring, gentle and has a beauty effect on your skin, as well as properties good for hardened arteries, cuts, burns, joint pain, and chronic chills. There are three foot-baths in town.
