Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Hirayu hot spring located at the northern foot of Norikura dake, at 1,250 m above sea level is considered one of the Okuhida hot springs resort along with Fukuchi hot spring, Shin hirayu hot spring, Tochio hot spring and Shinhotaka Hot Spring.
Hirayu hot spring are located very close to the Gifu prefectural gate of Abou Tunnel connecting Gifu and Nagano Prefectures, so access from the metropolitan area is also very convenient, and the regular high-speed buses are operated 6 round trips to and from Shinjuku .
It is a hot spring resort that is convenient for sightseeing not only in Takayama and Shirakawago such as Hida area but also in Kamikochi, Azumino etc.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Hirayu hot spring is the oldest among the hot springs in Okuhida and it is said that it starts from seeing a white monkey bathing when the army of Takeda Shingen came in Hida during the Sengoku period.
In Hirayu hot spring, hot springs of various colors such as transparent, brownish brown, greenish brown, and white turbidity are gushing with a plenty of hot water of 8600 liters per minute from about 40 wells.
There are four kinds of spring fountain quality, and it is said to have the effect on Peripheral circulation disorder, Cold-sensitive constitution, and Dry skin e.t.c.
