Anabara Onsen

An annex of Iizaka where you can hear the murmurings of a stream

Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Iizaka Onsen is well-known as one of the best spa villages in Fukushima Prefecture. After going through the center of the village and walking upstream along Surikami River, you can reach another spa village, which is peaceful, rustic and completely different from lively Iizaka.
This is Anabara Onsen, which is also called “Oku-Iizaka”. Here, you can meet some wild animals such as monkeys and serows popping up on the streamside, while enjoying the open-air hot spring and listening to the murmurings of the stream.
A hot spring in the village is nice, but a hot bath in nature is wonderful, too.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

The spring quality of Anabara Onsen is sulfate spring. The water is colorless, transparent and drinkable. It tastes a little sweet. Just like Iizaka Onsen, there is a communal bath with high-temperature water, and it is possible to enjoy spa hopping. It is said that this high-temperature water has effects on skin disease as well as neuralgia and arthralgia.
