Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

The Shiretoko Peninsula at the eastern end of Hokkaido is registered as a world natural heritage by the peninsula and the coastal ocean area because it is protected as it is unexplored and natural as it is due to tough nature.
Rausu hot spring and Utoro hot spring are located in the Shiretoko World Heritage Site and are a hot spring resort where you can enjoy hot springs in the great nature.
Rausu hot spring is located in Rausu town on the east coast of Shiretoko Peninsula in the eastern foot of Mt.Rausu-dake, where there is Kumano Yu(Bear's hot spring), which is one of the most wonderful secret hot springs in Japan, and Utoro hot spring is located in Shari town on the west bank of the Shiretoko Peninsula in the western foot of Mt.Rausu-dake.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Rausu hot spring is a historical hot spring and the Kumano Yu(Bear's hot spring) was on the map of the Meiji Era already, and Utoro hot spring is a hot spring of shallow history which was opened in Showa 40s compared to Rausu hot spring.
Rausu hot spring is a Chloride fountain, Utoro hot spring has a source of Chloride fountain and Hydrogen carbonate spring, and it is said that it has efficacy in Scar, Peripheral circulation disorder, Cold-sensitive constitution, Dry skin and the like.
