Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Hayakawa River wound down Hakone, creating Hayakawa Gorge, where Tonosawa Onsen stands. The hot spring is surrounded by the scenic gorge and colorful flowers.

From Hakone Road's entrance, Hakone-Yumoto onsen, you can climb up a litle to find Tonosawa Onsen. In its neighborhood, there is Amidaji Temple, also known as Hydrangea Temple.

During the rainy season, many hydrangea bushes bloom along Hakone Tozan Railway that runs parallel to Hayakawa River. Riding on the "Hydrangea Train" will be a real treat to your eyes.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Tonosawa Onsen has a natural alkaline simple spring, gentle to the skin, leaving it silky and smooth.

It stands along Tokaido, one of the Edo (current Tokyo) Five Roads. Long ago, Tonosawa was counted among Hakone Seven Hot Springs along with Hakone-Yumoto Onsen or Miyanoshita Onsen, prospering as a healing hot spring.
