Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

A solitary inn of Minakami Town in Tone District, Gunma Prefecture; it is Takaragawa Onsen Ousenkaku. This inn is situated in Minakami Onsen Village, which is one of the four biggest spa areas of Gunma, and is famous for its big open-air baths by limpid Takara River, among which the biggest one is 324 ㎡ and out of this world.
This place is also well-known as the filming location of “Thermae Romae”, so it is always crowded with many tourists.
Though these are mixed baths, bathing clothes are prepared, so women can feel at ease and enjoy the hot springs, too.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Takaragawa Onsen was opened a long time ago. There is a legend which says that Yamato Takeru discovered it. The amount of water discharge is 1800 liters per minute and it is considered as one of the hot springs with highest discharge.
The spring quality is simple spring, and it is said that the water has effects not only on arthralgia and neuralgia but also on motility disturbance and fatigue recovery.
