Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Aizu Ashinomak Onsen is once called a mystical hot spring resort. It is situated on the hill where you can look over the south of Aizu Wakamatsu City and River Aga.

This is the place where you can enjoy your stay with views of the clear and transparent river and the beautiful landscape of the valley in addition to exploring the hot spring town with retro atmosphere.

If you take some more steps, you can visit the best scenic spot called “To-no-Hetsuri” (200m long, natural cliff formation located in Okawa Hatori Prefectural Park) and “Ouchi Juku” a small post station in Japan's Edo period with more than 30 traditional thatched houses line up next to next.

Ashinomaki Onsen station is also well- known for the cat stationmaster.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Aizu Ashnomaki Onsen has more than one thousand and several hundred years of history.

It was very appreciated to heal beriberi disease that was widely spread out during Edo period (1603- 1868.)

As for hot spring quality, it is sulfate spring that is effective on rheumatism, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis.

There are some foot baths spread out in this hot spring town that you can enjoy while taking a stroll in town.
