Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

The trolley train ride of Kurobe railroad, sightseeing train, is one of major attractions that you can enjoy majestic views along the way (20km long, 80min) including the power plant with European-castle design standing in Lake Unazuki.

Unazuki station is a departure point of the trolley ride where many observatory spots are set up for visitors to experience magnificent views of railway and the whole hot spring town, etc. This hot spring town is full of leisure spots that you can enjoy with beautiful nature including Omokage observatory deck.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

The Unazuki-onsen is all fed by the Kuronagi-onsen Hot Spring, located 7km upstream of the Kurobe River. With the plentiful volume and high temperature of hot spring at Kuronagi made this possible.

At the beginning of sourcing hot spring water from Kuronagi, there were so many challenges to overcome, such as loss of hot water temperature, damages of pipes caused by natural disasters like typhoon.

After all trials and errors, the introduction of wooden pipes made with red pine has resolved all the issues, and this has been still working effectively up to now.
