Onoe Onsen

Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Onoe Onsen is a hot spring located on the northeast coast of Lake Biwa, which, as we all know, is the biggest lake in Japan, in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. There is only one inn in the area of Oku-Biwako, which is called “the annex of Lake Biwa”.
You can command a view of Lake Biwa from the inn, Chikubu Island under your eyes and and Mt. Shizugatake to the north, which is famous for the Seven Spears of Shizugatake.
It is near Hokkoku Route and convenient to some of the historic places such as the ruins of Odani Castle, the old battlefield of Anegawa and Kunitomo Historic Firearms Museum, which are recommended places to visit.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Onoe Onsen was opened in 1958, when the hot spring suddenly burst forth during a well-digging in the local shrine.
The color of the water is brownish, and the spring quality is simple spring.
It has effects on rheumatism, arthralgia and so on, and has a nickname “water of beauty” because of its effect of skin-smoothing.
