Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

This hot spring resort faces Susami Bay, Wakayama, and is a scenic spot with stunning eight sightseeing sites called “Susami’s eight great views,” including Koibito Cape, Koto Waterfall at Hirose Valley.

This area is well known for Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes, that was registered as UNESCO World Heritage. Also this hot spring resort was a favorite spot of Ujo Noguchi (1882-1945), poet and lyricist, who was a frequent & long-time visitor.

There are some pet-friendly hotels in this hot spring resort, and Susami beach is accessible where you can enjoy any time with anyone. In addition, this area is famous for wild boar where gourmet people can enjoy the taste.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Just because it is sulfur spring, hydrogen sulfide steam comes out from the hot spring. Although this steam can be poisonous under poor ventilation, the right amount of hydrogen sulfide steam helps you clear out phlegm on throat. It helps expand blood vessels, thus it is effective on high blood pressure and Arteriosclerosis. This hot spring is called “Bijin no yu (beautifying bath)” for its effect on enhancing metabolism.
