Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Hirugami Onsen is located in Achi Village in Nagano Prefecture, that is a peaceful spa area among the mountains. This place was designated as “the best place to view the beautiful stars” by the Ministry of the Environment.
The name “Hirugami” derives from an oral tradition: Ameno-omoikane-no-mikoto, a Shinto god, drew Amaterasu-omikami, a Shinto deity, out of the cave of heaven and got the day back.
It is special to bath under the night sky full of beautiful stars, which the deities must have seen, too. The hot water is thick and well-known as “water of beauty”.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

This is the most historic hot spring in Inadani area in Nagano Prefecture, and it appears also in some ancient documents of about 250 years ago. The spring quality is sulfur spring, and the water has effects on different diseases such as rheumatism, sprain, diabetes and constipation. This characteristic, thick water is well-known as “water of beauty”, too.
