It is the largest spring in Japan, leaving a large difference from second place, which is Yufuin Onsen in Oita Prefecture.

Beppu Hachiyu is located in various places in Beppu-shi, and they all have history to how they have developed into individual Onsen spots.

The number of springs, and overwall yield of spring water is the best in Japan. There are 8 different spring qualities.
