Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

This hot spring village stretches along the tributary of Maruyama River, by the coast of the Sea of Japan, in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture.
We can say that this is a traditional spa village where the literature flourished and that a lot of writers and artists loved.
On both sides of Ootani River running through the center of the village, there are small, old-fashioned Japanese inns, an arched bridge with steps made of basalt blocs and souvenir shops standing in rows, and they enhance the atmosphere of this spa village.
Here, you can relax and enjoy open-air hot spring hopping wearing a yukata, as each hot spring has its own characteristics.
Every winter, a festival called “Crab Kingdom” takes place, and the village gets devoted completely to crabs.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

This hot spring has been known by people since Heian Period, and has a long story of 1300 years.
A lot of writers and artists such as Toson Shimazaki, Naoya Shiga and Ryotaro Shiba loved this village.
The spring quality is chloride spring.
It effects on neuralgia, rheumatism, fatigue, female disease and so on.
