Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

In Hagi, the city that produced heroes such as Hirobumi Ito and Shinsaku Takasugi, long earthen walls still surround quiet samurai residences.

Hagi Hot Spring was dug up in 2004 which began providing the hot water to many inns. This, along with other seven hot springs became known as "Hagi Onsen Kyo (Hot Spring Area)".

This Area hosts eight hot springs, "Hagi Onsen", "Hagi-honjin Onsen", "Hagi Onsen Koboji-no-Yu", "Senshunraku-Sen", "Hagi Shigetsu Onsen", "Chomonkyo Onsen", "Hagi Abugawa Onsen", and "Tomagawa Onsen".

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

The water quality in Hagi Hot Spring Area differs from spring to spring. Roughly, they are classified as calcium sodium chloride spring (Hagi Onsen, Hagi-honjin Onsen, Hagi onsen Koboji-no-Yu, Hagi Shizuki Onsen, Tamagawa Onsen), salfate sodium chloride spring (Senshunraku-Sen), simple radium spring (Chomonkyo Onsen), alkaline simple spring (Hagi Abugawa Onsen).
