Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Kowakudani Onsen is one of top 17 Hakone hot springs, and is located in the midst of mountain, altitude of 600m.

This hot spring looks up the mountain ridges, and is blessed with seasonal beauties where you can enjoy full of azalea and Satsuki azalea blooming in spring, fresh green leaves in summer, red leaves in autumn, and snow coated trees in winter.

Some of the popular spots in this area include Horai Garden where you can feel breath of the nature, Hakone Kowaki-en Yunessun (hot spring theme park ) where you can enjoy unique and modern types of baths (such as Coffee Bath, Wine Bath).

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

In addition, you can enjoy art with the nature and people at Okada Museum of Art, Hakone Open-Air Museum, and so forth.

Kowakidani Onsen was previously called “Kojigoku” (literally means little hell) as opposed to “Ojigoku” (great hell) in Owakidani.

However, it was renamed as “Kowakidani “ for the Meiji Emperor visit in 1873 and this name has been kept up to now.
