Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

Hakone is one of the best spa villages in Kanto Region. Gora Onsen is located in Gora area, which is always full of tourists as it is the terminal station of Hakone Tozan Railway and also the starting station of the cable car.
This is an exclusive area of villas, which was developed in Taisho Period. Even now, some western-style villas and hotels remain and give a nostalgic atmosphere in this area, so you can feel its history while walking around.
It is said that it has been called “Gora” because this area is surrounded by mountains and looks like a turtle shell. You can enjoy its rich natural environment and atmosphere every season.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

Gora Onsen has five different spring qualities: simple spring, sodium chloride spring, sodium sulfate spring, calcium sulfate spring and acid sulfate spring. Each of these springs has a different color: transparent, light yellow, milky white, dark brown and light green. That is why this hot spring has a nickname “hot spring of five pastel colors”. Each spring has different effects, so you can choose one of them according to your physical condition and try different types of spas.
