Yugo Onsen(Mimasaka Santo)

The Legendary Hot Water Springing up for 1200 Years

Introduction of Hot Springs (Onsen)

In the middle of Mimasaka City, a hot spring wells among mountains. One of the three best ones in Mimasaka, it has been treasured as a medicinal spring since ancient times.

Trace the cobblestones in the nostalgic resort to find “Yunogo Tetsudo Mokei Kan (model railroad museum) & Retro Omocha Kan (toy museum)” or “Ano Hi no Omochabako Showa Kan (toy- boxes-from-long-ago museum).”

You can see fireflies dancing over Otani River in early summer and the dreamy ocean of clouds from Oyama Observatory late fall to early winter mornings.

Effects and characteristics of Hot Springs

About 1200 years ago, a renowned priest, Ennin was led by an injured white heron to this spring. Thus it is called Sagi no Yu (heron’s hot water), according to a legend.

The resort has Yunogo Sagi Onsenkan, a hot spring for a day-use with a history since the early 1800s and also a free foot bath facility.

It’s a sodium calcium chloride spring and clear, also known as the beauty water. It’s good for chronic gastrointestinal diseases, arthritis, rheumatism, chronic women’s diseases, skin problems, etc.
