Dishes are served separately for dinner and breakfast, not for buffet. <Efforts for further peace of mind> ① Thorough hygiene management We ask for your cooperation in wearing a mask. Sawara, a townscape that harks back to the Edo Period. A canal district with a history of around 600 years, Sawara still retains the culture of the Edo Period, and the old townscape can be seen along the Ono River and Katori Street. NIPPONIA Sawara Merchant Town Hotel was set up in a merchant town centering on Ono River. Taking the traditional Japanese houses dotted around the area, they have kept the old appearances of the buildings while renovating the inside to add modern facilities. The old Nakamura-ya Store that has seen the town change over the years was transformed into the Geisho Wing and houses the front desk and restaurant. Once you have checked in, walk along the old street to the guestroom wing. There are 4 guestrooms in total, all different from each other. Some were former merchant houses, while others were restaurants in the past. Experience the history and the endurance of the town and its people. For dinner, guests will be treated to authentic French cuisine filled with seasonal local flavors. Enjoy a unique experience here, and immerse yourself in this historic town.

(Restaurant Luang, where you can taste locally produced and consumed food) Chiba is a treasure trove of food that has supported Edo since ancient times, such as seafood directly from Choshi Port, fresh agricultural products grown in rich soil, and branded beef, pork and chicken. Sawara is a brewing town, and many of the high-quality seasonings such as miso soy sauce mirin, which are rarely handmade in the modern age, remain. We are particular about local production for local consumption, and we will deliver special dishes that express the story of food and the town. (Dinner) A fusion dish made with plenty of local ingredients and finished with French techniques. For the main dish, we will prepare a plate of Chiba brand beef Kazusa Wagyu. Pairing with sake from a local sake brewery is also recommended. In order to provide you with the most delicious food of the season, we change the menu every two months for dinner. (Breakfast) To wake up, a nutritious Japanese breakfast including lees soup, small bowls made with local ingredients, and fish dishes. We also offer amazake and drinks of white mirin and fruit vinegar. You can also enjoy the clear air that you can enjoy on a morning walk to the restaurant. Preservation area for important traditional buildings Sawara Town The town of Sawara was a rural village within the territory of Katori Jingu Shrine, which is known as Japan's Three Great Shrines and Shimonosou Kokuichi Ichinomiya, but from about 600 years ago, post towns and commercial cities were formed along the Ono River. In the Edo period, Tokugawa Ieyasu's orders changed the Tone River on a large scale, and the Ono River was connected to the Tone River, so Sahara developed a great deal as a shipping hub connecting Tohoku and Edo. The Suigo commercial capital along the Ono River has been selected as a Shigenden district. Furthermore, the townscape and culture still remain in Sahara, and the Sahara Grand Festival that has continued since the Edo period is registered as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage. (Regarding measures against the new coronavirus) At our facility, we will propose a trip that you can feel at ease by thoroughly preventing sporadic infections, contact infections, and 3 hygiene measures as a countermeasure against coronavirus completion, and hygiene management. Points that you can have peace of mind Unlike a city hotel, the number of guest rooms is small, and an environment where it is difficult for three to be dense Since there are distributed hotels scattered around the town, there are few opportunities to contact other customers Due to the characteristics of the wooden building, which is a collection of the essence of old craftsmen, it is thought to be airy and has good ventilation. The style of meals is not for buffet but for dinner and breakfast separately. For details, please check the website of each venue.Read moreClose
Some facilities are valuable tangible cultural properties of the prefecture. Please use it carefully so that you can preserve the history/culture of Sahara in the future. No TV/clock is provided in the room for a non-daily experience. The building retains the taste of the building as much as possible, so there are some parts that are inferior to modern buildings in terms of heat insulation and sound insulation.Read moreClose
